The MAJOR Problem
Everyday, thousands of Asian elephants are being captured and tortured. They are helpless and in major pain. In India, they are captured at a young age and kept in captivity, taken out only for major parades and celebrations. There are also other issues that are causing endangerment. There have been major habitat loses due logging and possible inbreeding. Only about 35,000 to 40,000 Asian elephants are left in the world today, that's a tenth of the African elephant population. In Thailand, the Asian elephant population is decreasing by 3.5% per year, that means that in 30 years, there will be no more Asian elephants in Thailand at all. It is unknown how many of these gentle giants are killed per year, but they are running out of time. Although there are many people who want to hurt these gentle giants, there are countless organizations created as sanctuaries for these beasts. That includes the elephants reserve linked below. Even with these organizations, we humans are not doing enough to save them. This movement needs to become known worldwide. We have to donate our time and our money, to save the Asian Elephants.
